(02) Practice

Material, memory, and the gaze
Between the Moscow school of sculpture and the metal workshops of Mullae, Seoul, Burganova weaves ink and metal-leaf drawing, canvas painting and metal sculpture into a single practice.
Material
The metal of Mullae
For five years her studio has been in Mullae — a district where industrial traces, metal workshops and art spaces coexist. From thin, reflective leaf on paper to sculpture formed in dialogue with the industrial surroundings, metal runs through all of her work.
Lineage
From a house of sculptors
Her grandfather Alexander Burganov and father Igor Burganov are leading sculptors of the Moscow school. Trained in drawing and form at the Stroganov Academy, she treats this inheritance not as biography but as a working foundation for thinking about form, line and space.
Encounter
An open structure
She offers no fixed narrative or single reading. Line, void, reflection and surface become an open structure, and viewers enter the work slowly — through their own memory, movement and experience.
